21st May 1966: Sam leaps into the body of seventy-nine year-old Max Stoddard, just as he sees an Unidentified Flying Object speed off into the sky above him. Unfortunately, Sam’s amazing experience is not shared by Max’s grandson, Tim, who merely humours the old man as he takes him home. Al is also sceptical, and tells Sam that Max’s fifty-year obsession with spaceships and aliens will cause his son, John, and daughter-in-law, Eva, to have him committed to a mental hospital. Sam finds himself faced with a number of missions: preventing Max from being declared crazy; proving the existence of extraterrestrials; and encouraging Tim to become a musician while avoiding death from a heroin overdose. As if that weren’t enough, Max’s wild claims draw the attention of two government agents from ‘Project Bluebook’, whose investigations soon force Sam into revealing details of Project Quantum Leap...
